Big fire under the Buford Hwy connector ramps. Burned long enough to collapse a section of I-85 NB just past the GA-400 NB ramp. This will be closed a while. I took a picture of my TV since the news websites didn't have it yet.
I-85 Atlanta downtown closed north of the connector

Luckily traffic in and around Atlanta is never really very bad. This should be no problem at all.

100,000 people that only know one way to get from home, work, or school. Will now be clogging up surface streets and other freeways like a lost herd of sheep for the foreseeable future.

Sounds like a story line for a walking dead episode...
Just passing by and RedForeman Thank this. -
For anyone that cares, this is the location of the collapse. Expect that even the still good sections of I-85 to be closed altogether for several days. Surface street traffic is heavy on Piedmont Rd, which is very close to the collapsed section and will also probably be closed indefinitely. There aren't any really good options, so it will be gridlocked until locals figure out their way around it.
