here is my break down to what I have made in my first 4 months.

    Gross Pay $20000
    F.I.C.A. 1,231.14
    F.M.H.I. 287.93
    FD WITHHOLDING 2,970.54
    STATE TAX GA 1,077.90

I multiplied all of these by 3 and it says I will owe $1800.

Why do I owe so much? I only claim 1 for myself. Can I claim per diem? I am on a local account, but i sleep in the truck and occasionally travel out to nearby states to make deliveries.

You must not return to same place every night to claim per diem. Ie of you go out and back and sleep at terminal every night you can't claim it.

I always claimed 0 on w4. Always got money back
If you claim 1 then you should break even. You company might not be taking enough out.

    Full days out $63*80%
    Partial days out ($63*80%)*75%

Partial day is when the day prior is a full day out and returning home and leaving home and the next day will be a full day out.

You always want to pay or break even.. If you get money back you have kids or youre doing it wrong.. Why let the govt keep your money all year then send some of it back to you.. Never understood this thinking.

The more you claim, the lesshey take out each pay check, and if you claim 5 and and really only have 3 to claim, there is a chance you will owe at the end of the year.

However, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I used to claim high so as to have as little as possible taken out of mt paycheck. However, I saved that money in an interest earning account so that throughout the year I could earn interest on it instead of having Uncle Sam have it for the year..

Don't forget, that when you actually do your taxes there will be other deductions and credits you get, for example the EICT if you are between 25 years old and 65 years old.
So you are not really able to go by each paycheck.
