Your math is off imo. At 60k gross, 9k fed, and 3k state you will break even with the standard deduction. How did you calculate owing 1800?
I am claiming 1 on my taxes and it says I will owe at the end of the year. HELP!!!

Calculators show you getting a small return at your current withholding rates.Knucklehead and AtticusRoad Thank this. -
Don't try and claim per diem, as it requires you to itemize rather than taking the standard deduction.
Only worthwhile if you are gone a more than 175-200 nights a year, or have other sizable deductions. -

Try paycheck city I believe. Plug in different numbers and withholdings, then go to the free TurboTax calculator and use the corresponding numbers. Then you have your options if you want to get your money now or owe at the end of the year. My wife and I have 35k. ( home, property taxes) in write offs and still owe at the end of the yr. This yr will be different since I'm a owner operator.
