When I lived in N.C. some guy named Junior Johnson had one in a Two-Story KW to pull his race car around.

Uh, Mercer here, and that is not exactly true. I was up in CT the week before xmas. There was nothing going South paying over 1.40 to the truck. I don't haul it that cheap, i will usually deadhead a long way to where i can get a fair rate rather than sit too long. That week i couldn't even do that. I was just about to deadhead to FL when an OD load came up. I should have passed on it considering it took up 5 days time to go from vt to ga. It was full tarp, 11ft wide and paid 1.90!

But, that's alright, Quest logistics got me that time, but guess which region i won't be going to until Spring? New England

And Texas is already on my don't go to list pretty much year round now. That state is just as bad as south Florida.

I have noticed that the freight rates have dropped over 40 percent since July 1, 2012 . This goes for legal and oversize loads.. I have told so many agents and brokers to go buy their own trucks and trailers !
( that I'm not the American Red Cross )
I sat in San Antonio, TX for 10 Days early this month, then finally just dead headed to South Carolina for the holidays.. I'm not about to haul $ 1.35 a mile frieght for anyone....
I'm Leased to Mason Dixon.. I've talked with alot of owner operators from other major companies and it seems that this has been a nation wide deal on freight rates...
