A suggestion I haven’t really seen yet to to secure the skid next time. That’s assuming the product is secured well to the pallet. It sounds like the guards really should have been in a crate.

I remember a load I hauled a few years ago when I was pulling a quickdraw full time. Snap lock hvac ducting and boxes of fittings. They were very specific about absolutely none of the boxes being crushed in the slightest bit. I wondered around their warehouse picking up v board and any wood I could find. I put that across the top corner of the boxes to spread out the load. Then double strapped everything and only went one click past snug. It worked well.

I have thought about the skids and might take a stab at it. If I had a stack of 1by3's in light wood about 2 feet long, I can crib the corners of any pallet of any size to really secure it. Take a air gun nail, knock nock nock nock and nock finished then toss straps. That pallet is not going anywhere.

    The machine might.

Ive only hauled a few and they were always high value custom hand made ######## that cost a bunch of money and is a product of love of 30 people over a few months production to make.

I rather haul those Russian Eggs for a Musuem or something outrageously delicate in a non airride truck than to put up with a machine load that crinkle under any tension. Maybe I am the one who has issues (Pretty sure of that...) more than anything.

Why not just buy 24 or 36 inch V-Boards? That's what I carry... Not too expensive...

Ya, I've never seen shippers selling them. Bought mine from Tarp Stop. You did what ya had to do and it worked, that's what counts

The ridiculous thing is I have my own 12x12” v-boards. I didn’t use them because the guards looked pretty solid and nobody said anything. So I bent them. Next time I check product on skids for strength no matter what.

Some shippers supply them, but it will come at a cost, somewhere...

You can get those long ones in some truck stops. Like T/A. They are about $18 each and that’s why I haven’t bought them yet.

All that working out your doing, biceps must be getting to big... Gonna have to change your name to "Chuck Diesel" lol.

I have 4 of these 36 inch V-board. I use them for the first set of pallets and the last set when you use 2 straps and then I bought the 24" size for all the pallets that are in the middle that I single strap... Dont buy any flat bed equipment from the truck stop, way over priced... Tarp stop is located in Gary, Indiana, Perrysburg, Ohio and Taylor, Michigan...

Mytee products in Ohio sells them also.

I think the biggest problem is where are you going to put/store 18" V-boards when not in use.
