I really wish i could give you some good solid numbers right now.

But in this economy, it's tough. Everyone's miles are down. Many are sitting 24-48 hours at a stretch between loads.

And many drivers are being asked to take a temp cut in pay. That may never return.

Just a guess... I'd say you can expect about $700 a week pretax after training. It could be more, it could be less.

When the economy returns, you can expect substaintial increases as your experience grows. And should easily make $50k plus a year.

It's not in the least unusual to meet drivers who make $80k a year, as a company driver.

Depends on who you go to work for. You can check out your money at PaycheckCity.com Are you planning on getting home every weekend? Are you planning on running hard? It all makes a difference!

Doesn't make any difference what you want to do. You can be ready/willing/able to run hard, but if dispatch/weather/shipper/consignee/mechanical problems/road construction get in your way, then what? Just one consignee taking his sweet time unloading you on a Friday could keep you from re-loading for a weekend run. You are at the mercy of a lot of people in this biz.

Really depends on alot of things. But if you get with a decent company that will run you and your not wasting time 20 to 30K first year. Do you know who your going to work for yet?

Along with Mr Me's commentary, I will add some of my own.

If you know how to manage your time,
if you and your dispatcher are on the same page,
if your dispatcher shows up to work instead of painting his toenails,
you can make $50k+ your first year.

However, if you need your hand held,
    if your dispatcher is MIA
if you and your dispatcher cant stand each other
    if you are hotheaded
    you can make about $25-30k
