We had a cross drop happen yesterday by a driver. He went to a station that had two white lids. One was for conventional the other unleaded. He dropped 3000 gallons of unleaded into the conventional tank. There were no identifying markings and same color lid. That's a tough one, but he should have followed procedures and called dispatch when in question.
I love fuel hauling

I've seen a few get fired for not reporting mixes.
The worst one was at the local airport. The driver pumped about 3000 gallons of JetA into the 100LL AvGas tank. The headers were all marked and color coded and not even close to each other.
He probably would have dumped the whole load in if a sharp eyed airport fuel truck driver hadn't spotted it and shut him down. The transport driver tried arguing with the airport guy, tried threatening him, and then tried to get the airport guy to help him cover it up. The airport worker said later that it was all he could do not to knock the guy in the head with a spanner wrench. The trucking company spent a fortune in hauling off the entire 20000 gallons of contaminated fuel, cleaning all the valves, piping, and other plumbing in the plant, replacing the entire group of filters, inspections by all kinds of government people, aquiring new product and trucking it to the airport. Luckily this happened in the winter when demand for 100LL wasn't high and the airport could advise people to fuel elsewhere for a couple of days.
The driver tried every lie he could think of and tried to blame everybody but himself. I could fill a page with the fancy stories he told about why the whole thing wasn't his fault.
He was fired. -

No ethanol.... I had a great night last night. In a 12 hr shift i did one load lol! I was sent to a murphys with to much fuel. So i was told to wait around till it fit. Well it never fit and they closed so I took the leftover to another murphys and by the time I got back in the city I had no time to run another load!

That's funny! Surprised that happened at a Murphy. They seem to be in their game. They also ask for my stick reading before they hand me the veeder printout. -
I am doing five loads a day now. 3 weeks in and so far so good. Luckily every time I get to the station all my products can fit. Some Speedways are pain to get in and out

A lot of the local loggers want it for their chainsaws but they have to use 100LL instead. Seems like the E10 gas gums up their 2 stroke engines.TakinItEasy Thanks this. -

Who is at fault?
I dropped DC at a store today. It had two tanks. They ordered 8500. After getting the veeder I saw that both tanks measured at 11' so I decided to drop about half and half. When I go into the store, the clerk said one tank doesn't work and I'm at fault for dropping. There were no special markings and when I went into the store, no one told me a thing. Lastly, there were no comments in the loading instructions.
So the manager calls my terminal blaming me for dropping in a tank that doesn't work and requiring us to pump the tank. I'm not sure about this one. Seems like they should have locked the tank, re-colored the cap or something. How was I suppose to know?TakinItEasy Thanks this. -
