Local deliveries are exempt and the cop that wrote you the ticket was way off base.
Your dispatcher should know about this and he should have advised you.
I'd definitely go to court on that ticket.
I'd make sure that your terminal manager gave the dispatcher some schooling, too.
I love fuel hauling

Has your company been there before, perhaps with a different size truck? That's the only thing I could think of.

Not hard to beat. Does the law specifically permit fire trucks, garbage trucks, city streets trucks, utility trucks, etc., etc., or are they illegally using the streets?
You could have the station manager help with this, how are they supposed to get supplies?
Was the officer a rookie? Ask to speak to his superior.
Go to a City council meeting, and ask how this business is supposed to stay in business.RockinChair Thanks this. -
Make sure you go to court. Drag that stupid officer into court. Have all your references on hand and make your case. Be sure to let the judge know that the officer created an unsafe situation just by the fact your stop on the city streets. It burns me up when the LEO's do not know the basic laws. We all required to know all the laws and are held accountable for them. You can use the internet to find your reference by searching under "laws for truck routes". Each state have their own laws and it's basically under travel off the designated truck route when making deliveries. Go get'em.

Thank you to ALL for your advice and information. I submitted my BOL to the clerk today. She called back that my case was dismissed. The officer is inexperienced and didn't understand the exemption for local deliveries.
