There are a number of starter companies and schools.I went thru C1 driving school a few years ago.I know they have locations in Newport Arkansas and Indianapolis Indiana, they work with USA Truck,Star,Pam and Maverick. You can also check on some of the starter companies like Schneider,JB Hunt,Swift and many others.I know a lot of drivers trash a lot of companies and schools but some things work for one driver but not for another.I have talked to drivers at all of the starter companies and have heard great things, good, things, bad things and horrible things.A lot of it the driver's attitude as well as the dispatcher and other employees and how they interact and respect or disrespect eachother.Start looking on search engines for things like "CDL training" or "CDL jobs no experience" and things like that.Do research and look thru postings here. There is something for everyone.Good luck,be safe and let us know how it goes =]

In the current economic situation I would suggest talking to everyone you can about the way truckers are sitting for DAYS waiting for a load, CDL holders with YEARS of experience unable to get a job, schools that put you into class only to cancell it or close the school, companies that get you trained and let you sit for MONTHS waiting on a truck of your own.....there are plenty of posts on this forum about all of this and MUCH more, take the time to read them and beable to make educated choices.

In this economic climate trucking is NOT the answer for employment that some people seem to think it is. When things are good trucking is a difficult occupation and takes a very dedicated special type of person to be successful.

Do your research, read all you can, IF you decide to go for it...get EVERYTHING in black and white and do all you can to protect yourself, there are LOTS of scams out there.
