I really appreciate being an O/O right now.

I hear a lot of negativity about being an Owner Operator and there absolutely are downsides (especially if you lease to own) but here is a positive for us.

First off my son is about to be the third generation of AIR FORCE in our family. Im proud of him and if you feel differently I understand but take it to the appropriate forum for that discussion.

my wife, team driver and business partner requested that we stay home for a month to help him prepare and to spend time as a family before he ships off. we have worked hard the first 5 months and can easily swing the time off without crushing our business funds. The company we are leased on to has no say in whether we take time off because its our truck, our trailer= our overhead.

I am coaching him on calisthenics to improve his numbers. I was a SERE Specialist for 20yrs so next week I will give him some unclassified field SERE training to help him be ready for that as much as possible. I never brought work home with me and left my rank at work so for the first time we are taking about military culture and expectations.

my wife is just enjoying her time with him

I don’t know of any other profession that we could both take off a month at the same time like this without a major medical problem as the reason.

Ive heard it said that nobody says on their deathbed that they wish they had worked more and spent less time with loved ones.
