That was 17 minutes longer than it needed to be.

I have heard trains are no good for cars as cars are not bult to rock sideways, more up and down, but just heard. I do wonder with road upkeep, accidents, pollution, noise etc. why governance don't get into trains more. One or two engines pull 100+ trucks. No lights, no slow drivers or traffic jabs. No idiots lane changing or brake checking the train, and can easily run 24hrs straight with good safety checks if someone gets sleepy. Trucks, and probably smaller ones, could then service train yards and work more locally. They say however trains are expansive, but really I think its jobs. Far more jobs far and wide keeping trucks on the road.

In Aus they have been talking about a high speed train for decades. One that can do the 2000km between our 3 major cities at 120km/h, and go on another 600km to a major Northern port. The train is 2 days faster than the boat apparently from that Northern port to the most Sothern city where the majority of containers land. Then we just truck them Nth because we're smart.

In the good ol days the elites had their own carriage to travel. The train will never be as fast as a plane, but recon rail could do well out of elite/group/themed carriages as well if its pulling 100 constrainers.

USA us going to start putting tractor-trailers on flatbed train cars, for coast-to-coast freight. I guess the driver stays in the truck during the move.

Ironic isn't it. I doubt the driver will stay in the truck for safety concerns. Probably have a sleeper carriage for them I imagine, or make more sense for just the trailer to go.

Why put the whole truck on the train? Isn't that what containers are for?

I don't know; the articles have said the whole tractor-trailer.
    This is not intermodal.

    FellowTraveller and jaffles Thank this.

Full circle more or less. Seemed like a large portion of CNR and CPR rail traffic in the 90s was piggyback trailers on flat cars. Can't say I've seen a train with trailers on flats in the last 20 years.

yeh makes sense..... but as I'm reading this Bob Segars Night Moves came on in the back ground. I watch the video clip on youtube. Firstly shows I'm out of date but I no longer buy music. Second the video clip is of a time passed or people enjoying each other at the drive in. The notion of listening to music, or groping each other hasn't changed, its the delivery. Think rail as a delivery should make sense but for whatever reason just isn't popular anymore.

You would think 150 containers on a train is better than 150 trucks on the road, but...
