Ive heard the horror stories of having to break a set down in the middle of the road and thankfully ive never been there but I have made a less than ideal U turn in KC (I know, the forbidden act but I knew I had the room and it was the best outcome honestly)

I can't imagine the humiliation factor there, "yep I ####ed up guys I'm dropping these trailers in the middle of the street because I made a wrong turn, nothing to see here move along and please don't take a picture" lol

I did the exact same thing, and I was right that there was a gate on that side. Unfortunately for me it was the out gate and the sensors that opened it were on the inside.

 

I did it once also. In South Philly. The locals thought it was hysterical, me not so much. But I got it out safely and lived to talk about it.

 

One of the things I took away from CDL school was what one of my instructors said to us: "Don't worry about what's behind you. They can worry about themselves. You just drive your truck, and do what you need to do, safely".
