One day in the forseeable future
Install a wet kit & dump bed
Mainly to haul asphalt among other things. I was wondering what the heat would be like against the engine especially during a scalding southern summer what do you guys think am I nuts? With the sleeper and all plus bed and wet kit I also wonder what I would scale empty

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I have hauled hot mix with both types of power units , day cabs and sleeper trucks , both handled the heat about the same

If you’re rebuilding the truck the something like Dynamat or similar on the doghouse under the upholstery would help considerably with heat as well as noise. That’s what I plan to do when I finally start on my 1980 Freightliner.

I’ve got a ‘85 cab and frame just waiting for you to show up with a lowboy to take home.

Cabovers aren't lighter than conventionals despite what some people think.
