Started my career at the ripe old age of 9.

    dishwasher
    busboy
    short order cook
    missionary
    truck mechanic
    auto mechanic
    local delivery (pickup)
    youth minister
    minister
    airplane washman
    sales
    warehouseman
    construction laborer
medical "parts" courier (ie: "stuff" removed from people in surgery) THAT was some strange stuff!
    Cooler serviceman
And for the grande finale (more stuff is there - just can't think of it right now) - and the career that has one manager complaining I'm making more money than he does (crying lemonade, have a cup)

I was a state correctional officer for 8 yrs at Colorado's largest prison. I love driving and don't miss my previous job at all. Prior to that I was a small town police officer for 4 yrs and an MP in the Army for another 4 yrs.

OTR Truck Driver at 17 and O/O at 25 (laws were a lot different then)

    Dump Truck O/O

    Drunk/Drug Addict/Criminal

    Rehab

    Truck and Construction Machinery Dealer

    Telemarketing Company Owner

    Bookie

    O/O Trucker, again, at 50.

Always missed the road - but was usually obsessed with making money and ignored my hearts desires.

What a long, strange trip it's been!

In 10 years 6 months and 3 days I will be a truck driver. I am currently a burnt out police officer waiting for retirement so I can start my trucking career.

Milby, don't fight it!!! I was a cop for 17 years, came from a long line of cops, grandfather, father, my son. I got run over by a car and got a medical retirement, bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-bu but I'm mu-mu-mu-mu- much b-b-b-b-b better -n-n-n-n-n now!!!! I just finished trucking school and accepted a spot with KLLM. Hopefully everything will go well with orientation and I will go into my driver training and solo. Been looking foward to this move for a while. I take it you are finishing out your retirement, and waiting for the day. I wish you the best of luck, but do not suggest you retire the way I did. It was quicker, but it hurt, made me grit my teeth and stuff like that. Hope to see you out there someday. NEWB:biggrin_25520:
