CIty bus, school bus, shuttle bus, Greyhound and every other transportation that deals with transporting people, I want to give a big thank you to each and every one of you. I personally would never be able to do any kind of public transportation, because I'd most likely be in jail by now.

You all have my upmost respect.

I drove buses for 20 years. Started as a school bus driver, drove transit buses, then spent years as a charter coach bus driver. I made the switch to trucking 5 1/2 years ago, and I don’t miss it!

I had a coworker that drove a charter coach bus he loved it. Covid kinda put an end to it, so he retired from it and got in a dump truck part time. He was saying he’d take a bunch of blue hairs to like Vegas or Branson or something, kick them out and then had like all day to screw around and sight see and he got meal vouchers and show tickets comped. And I guess some tipped really well. Is this your experience in that line of work? Or what would you say was the biggest perk? And what was the biggest nuisance?

I did have a lot of charter trips with great people, and I’ve had some really great experiences. But I’ve also driven countless groups of school children on field trips (who invariably all had to experience the thrill of using the toilet in the back), and drunken bachelor/bachelorette parties (vomit comet!). And then there’s the person who insists on sitting right behind me so they can tell me how and where to drive.

The biggest reason for transitioning to truck driving was money. I made less money on my best year as a bus driver than I did my worst OTR.

Self-loading freight is TOO MUCH TROUBLE. Y'all can walk or run, or don't.

My neighbor drives a big tour bus. And he loves it, trying to talk me into it.
All he does is haul blue hairs to casinos and school bands to games etc.
Pay is good, free food and accommodations.
