Just read on OOIDA that I5 is closed at Santa Clarita and I210 is closed for a bit from I5 east. Both due to fires.

    Yes the Thomas Fires.

Winds have been gusting towards 80 in that area.

They are doing battle there in Ventura Co. It will be a while before it's resolved.

I5 wasn't closed, at least not for any significant period of time. It was backed up something awful though, I'll tell you that.

Two new fires reported. One near 5 above I-210 and another further SE called the creek fire. Apparently 150K has been evacuated so far. Ventura City itself reports what I consider to be a firestorm trying to get in there from the Thomas fire.

If they close 5, 99 will become pretty heavy up and down the valley I would imagine. It is also further supported that the traffic is failing due to so many people wanting out near the fires.

    Steel Dragon Thanks this.

    405 is closed.

Videos out of the area on twitter indicate a firestorm.

Other LA area freeways expect closure as the fires advance.

    Steel Dragon Thanks this.

I'm out in SoCal (Chino) presently but not anywhere near the fires. All the local channels are all over this fire event. One mentioned much of this same area suffered a similar major fire back in the early 1960's some time or other. They went on to note Ronald Reagan was documented in the same neighborhood currently burned via local news at the time using a water hose to keep his property wet.
