i70 westbound in indiana

As long as you don’t come through Louisville or St Louis at morning rush that part of the trip to Union is generally good. Haven’t been on 70 east of Indy or west of Terre Haute in a while.

 

I think you might be better to do that. It only adds like 50 miles. Id take 275 around if it's busy through Cincy. I came across 70 yesterday in Indiana and got into 2 traffic jams due to construction. The first one came just past the 149 with one lane shut down. It was probably about a 30 minute back up. The other one was closer to Brazil and it wasnt quite as bad. It's a crap shoot coming across Indiana on 70 right now. Some days are ok, others suck. It's dependent on the level of intelligence of the drivers on the road that day. The lanes get closed down to one and if drivers can get over early, it'll flow. If everyone waits til Judgement Day, then it'll be hell to get over and get past all that mess.

 

Count your blessings. They're widening 70 across Indiana and I think theyre trying to do it all the way across. From Indy east bound it gets chaotic in spots, particularly once you ease closer to the Ohio line, probably about the 135.

 

The last 4-5 years I ran Northern Indiana out of Princeton 3-4 rounds a week but I purposely took 41 through the country to avoid Indy unless I backhauled out of Ft Wayne.

 

Do yourself and your a truck a favor, stay off I-70 in Indiana completely.

 

I’ve not been to Indiana in a hot minute. I can say 70 west of St. Louis around Forestell is a hot Dam mess even at 2am. Plan accordingly

 

It’s not too bad. Better than 2 years ago though, which actually doesn’t have to be too great! The last few weeks, I’ve been running 70 almost every day, and it’s not too bad. I’ve been getting on the west side of Indy, headed to Terre Haute, and there’s only one stretch of construction in there. They take it down to one lane, but I didn’t get any traffic jams. Got a rolling slow down one day, but nothing terrible. Met a friend of mine at a truckstop for lunch down there the other day, and he asked me how much my property taxes went up. Said it’s way better now than it was last year when he came through, thought maybe they were funding the project through taxes, so….

 

I think I agree with you that there has been a slight improvement! Several years ago even people from third world countries would drive in the grass to stay off that sorry strip of rubble!

 

lol, I remember one time about 4 years ago I was running that road, with my 89, and it was that rough, the horn button flew out of the steering wheel several times , and the Radio fell out of the overhead console. 100% uncalled for IMO.
