Ouch... That's gotta suck.

In 2005 one of our trucks clipped a state troopers car. The trooper was parked behind a tow truck pulling a car from the ditch, wind was blowing like crazy in a snow storm. Our driver moved over in plenty of time but the trailer tires caught the birm of snow on the zipper and started to jackknife. The rear corner of the trailer took the mirror off the side of the troopers car. Our driver was a very experienced driver and recovered in seconds and didnt even realize he had clipped the troopers car. The dash cam footage (with audio from in the cab) from the troopers car is now in with our safety videos at the office. One second the trooper is complaining to himself that he REALLY has to take a s###, after the next couple seconds I dont think he needed a bathroom anymore... Maybe a fresh pair of skivies though!... Lol Because of the storm the identifying marks on the truck could not be seen on the footage so it never went any further than the company paying for repairs to the car and the state troopers giving us a copy of the dash cam footage.

 

Yeah, watching that vid made it look like the driver had intentions of grazing the cruiser.

 

that's exactly my first thought, watching it the first time..there was nothing in the truckers way to make him cross the lines..

looks like it was very intentional.

 

You can drive distracted and easily do that. Reach for something, answer a call, etc.

 

Naw, not intentional... just stupid.
He looked up from texting or watching video on his phone and momentarily panicked and adjusted the wrong way.

 

i saw something a few weeks ago, ford is installing a brace in the interceptors to absorb more of the crash and save a troopers life, IF he/she is in one, at the time of a crash.

i wonder if the ordinary buyer can get this.??

I would imagine you could. I build similar subframe bracing for cars to stiffen them up for the purpose of drag racing but still the same idea.

 

i would figure as well..i like the "PIT BAR" or push bar on cop cars..

but what i REALLY LIKE is a massive PUSH BAR like this some day when i get a new pick up truck, as i can now push idjuts outta my way, and NOT get fired for it..>!!!
