If I fill my tires with helium instead of air, could I haul more weight legally?

I have put the outside tires somewhat off the old platform scales in storms. I did not resort to that too much in them days. But when it's blowing sideways raining and a screeching nor'easter wind, DOT in the coop only wants to see a number below 80000.
beckdg and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -
RedRover Thanks this.

That's a couple hundred off your drives right there. Hell, could probably even bounce the tandems back a peg if you wanted at that point.RedRover and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -
Go to your local Autozone, get a park bench wing, flip it upside down. You now have lift when at highway speeds, and therefore less weight. Don't forget to crossdrill your cylinder sleeves for weight reduction, too.

The scales are usually on the passenger side
When you roll across, slip out the door and walk alongside the truck til the cab's off the scale.allniter, Cottonmouth85, Friday and 8 others Thank this. -
And all the other drivers are waving at me once I return to the truck too... they must know that I put one over on the State DOT and are happy to wait a bit to help the cause. Seems they think I am #1 as well.
