My accountant tells me I can purchase a truck and put it in my personal name and then resell it to my LLC when I'm ready to put it into service.
I'm looking for a dump truck and my question is if I buy this truck most likely from out of state, can I drive it home with my CDL and a medical card if it's in my personal name?
I also have things to do here that are specific to my property. I have excavating that I need to do here and I need to haul some things out and haul some stone in.
This is only for my own personal property that I own that when I'm done with these personal things then I'll finish the repairs to the truck and resell it to the LLC.
Can I legally do this with only my medical card and my cdl?
I'm not part of a Consortium and I really don't want to start that or pay that until I actually put the truck into service commercially.
Can I legally drive the truck home with my CDL and medical card and can I use it for my personal things here until I put it into service?

And yes this positively is only for me, only for my property, only for myself and no one else until the truck is resold to the LLC and then I will have the Consortium and everything else that's required to legally run the truck through my LLC commercially.
If I put this truck in my personal name?

"Can I legally do this with only my medical card and my cdl?" AND insurance. Call and ask your insurance company.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
If it is truly personal use only, no commerce at all, then yes if it is insured and registered or younhave a in-transit/temporary permit.

A truck isn’t a commercial vehicle until you make it one. I’ve driven trucks home to the Midwest from WV, PA, and MT and had zero issues.

I have e-mailed Dot questions after reading FAQ section. Within 2 business days get response. I bought truck, trailer. Within state. Called insurance. Gave them Vin #s got insurance, got it, drove it home. IF I want to go interstate? Then paperwork multiplies. But if not for hire, POV use I would check legal sites where I get name, Officer info on response.
