GPS Flaw: Security Expert Says He Won't Fly April 6

If you have a newer gps it shouldn’t be affected newer meaning last 2-3 years. Now if for some reason you’re using a really old gps the roll over bug might just be as small as affecting time on the gps or as large as rendering it inoperable.

Does that mean I need to upgrade the one I have never had?

The GPS units know how many weeks it has been since they were born at the factory in Binary terms. At some point within 20 years, they have no more room to count higher. And so they brick. Newer GPS's is less of a problem. The odometer as it were is reset in these.

There has been a dozen or so Jets grounded in China so far after exhibiting this GPS Failure. It's better not to fly if at all possible. Wait this out.
