Your body normally runs off of carbohydrates, it's your fuel, however when you switch to extremely limited carb intake over a few days your metabolism flips into ketosis. That is where your body switches to using FAT for fuel.

Whenever I do this the weight flys off fast!
24/7 your body is in burning fat mode for energy.

The challenge is that you options to eat are limited.

Grilled Chicken, egg whites, Keto bread, some vegetables is mainly my diet.

Yes you can still eat bread believe it or not, here is one I eat that is zero net carbs.

If you are struggling with weight and diets try this out. If you are committed to staying to the correct foods you will see the weight will come off rapidly.

All diets revolve around this simple principle. Eat less, do more. Doesn't matter what you eat as long as you eat less calories than burned, you will lose weight.

You can force your body into ketosis faster by adding in HIIT workouts while cutting down your carbs to around 50 grams a day. After you start burning fat, the rest is just maintenance.

Diets work psychologically because the individual tends to stick to it religiously and the fad hooks you up with a support group keeping you motivated. Then as time wears on the dieter looses steam and cuts corners here and there.

By definition eating healthily (frequently meaning just eating less) will result in better outcomes... while it lasts.

The problem comes from the relapse, most diets work and work extremely well, but its usually also a radical departure from your normal eating schedule, if you dont manage the reasons you got to where your eating habits got you needing a diet in the first place, youre going to have a hard time maintaining it and when you fall off the wagon, your habits will be even worse

Yes. Eating right is definitely a conscious life-style change.

Be very cautious doing keto. It works great for some, but some people's bodies go nuts doing keto and they develope ketoasidosis, especially if you're diabetic or prediabetic... basically your body over produces ketones and changes your blood ph. My son-in-law and his mom did keto. He lost a lot of weight(almost to the point of looking like a crack addict), but his mom had to be hospitalized because her body went nuts, and her kidneys were damaged by the excess ketones in her blood. I did 16:8 intermittent fasting along with cutting carbs and excess sugar, and lost 40 lbs, plus brought my blood sugar down to normal without meds.

you have to watch out overdoing high intensity workouts as well. Doing so triggers your body to produce cortisol, which is a fat storing enzyme. That's why some folks go to the gym 5 or more times a week, and never lose the weight they need to lose.

    Yes... BUT
that is highly unlikely to last without radical readjustments.

Humans are pretty lazy and reversion to the mean is extremely common. Plus attention span is limited. The proof? See new years resolutions.

A saner more likely to succeed approach is available to everyone. Its called incremental change. Small adjustments over long courses of time resulting in large total differences. For those that remember the movie "what about bob", baby steps.

My doc did routine blood work and he told me I was per-diabetic. Told me to lose weight. I was 303 lbs. I've lost @ 80 lbs doing the low carb diet. Has taken over a year and I did go off it a couple times for a week or two. Not just the low carb though. Still keep the calories to 1500 to 2000 a day. And exercise. And as I lost the weight the exercise became easier. I still have 40 + pounds to go so I'll just keep doing what I've been doing. But my blood sugar is now good and my doc is happy with it. Have to give a lot of credit to my wife who has adapted her cooking and meal planning to help me do this.

At the risk of repeating myself,

What youve done certainly looks like a radical readjustment and support group of sorts. Im warning that while something works for you, beware of thinking it will work as well for others because you simply dont know how willing they are to radically adjust and if they have that support

Kudos to you, thats quite an accomplishment, i wish you continued success and health.

here is what i learned while shopping at a walmart in Idaho, i was shopping, buying the normal healthy things i buy, veggies, etc, then i realized that is the problem, the focus is still on food even if its healthy food, in the hr i spent in walmart i couldv been on the bike trail right next to walmart (i carry a bike),i still had food in the truck, i wasnt going to starve if i didnt stop at walmart, but there i was, buying more food, even tho it was healthy food the focus was still on food and not the bike trail i shouldv been on. i prob wouldv got done with the bike and went to sleep, instead i was stocking my fridge with healthy food. lol too much focus on food, enough already. and its not about "losing weight", thats just a number, its about being happier, healthier and feeling better. please feel free to copy an paste this to anyone who might need the help.
