Yep, I've been around heavy equipment all my life, large dose's of common sense, thick skin and persistence and please there's a difference between pipe dreams and reality. This isn't Hollywood it's another part of life with its pro's and con's. But this industry builds some real characters!...lol

Hi Mooose, yep, me too. Pulled a couple of doozies in my time, but learned quickly to think what might happen if I did something. Of course, years ago, a little screw up wasn't such a sin as it is today. The boss took you aside and said, "did you learn something today?", and that was all it took. Nowadays, you drag a light cord, and it's on your record forever.:biggrin_25512:

Great Post ! Truth and to the point. I just got my CDL Monday, but the course doesn't finish till Nov 20. I'm fine with that so I can learn all I can knowing full well I will have much more to learn as I go along. The aspiration is to become totally competent, proven, and then seek the better paying jobs. I hope I can get there in less than two years. Any suggestions on companies for training, better treatment, pay that may help along the way assuming it matters much in the beginning?

All Students: REMEMBER 1 thing - your CDL school taught you how to get a CDL, now, keep your mouth shut and learn about the real world of trucking.

Yeah im out for 2 1/2 to 3 weeks at a time and im making good money imo. I get "truck sick" after 3 weeks and no amount of money is worth that anyways.
