I talked to a hiring manager down there and he told me that if I didn't get hire to keep trying because guys were constantly job hopping for more money, or they just didn't like the job and quit.

Did you go in person and apply? That seems to work better sometimes.

Paulcouto, I hear you might be running for office. Is it true that you have reduced the unemployment rate by a whole point?

Drove through Snoraaaaaaa yesterday did'nt see Nabor's office kept driving to El Paso to drop trailer. Decided to check out Ozona and found Nabor's office and applied and talked with Fermin Flores. Housing is the problem in Ozona. In El Paso now going back in a few days. Hey Kriv where did you find the trailer?

I brought a camper from Colo. staying in the RV park. Nabors has trailers that they let new guys stay in for 90 days. 2 or 3 to trailer in the RV lot in town. However, a shortage there too. There looking for a total of 50 drivers here in the Ozone...getting more trucks and FRAC trailers too. Busy time here.

Also, once you are here and working you get to know people, and have word of mouth, so maybe you get lucky and find a place to rent or stay. They have motels too, but they all want crazy money by the week. Ozana also has no growth in regards to real estate. No construction on houses or apts being built. They are fighting growth at every turn.

With Nabors you have to be on for 6 month's in whatever job you hired on for, before you have the ability to transfer to another terminal or different job. All in all, though, Nabors has the best reputation, most respect and pays well. Harder to get on with them, so have a good, clean background. They are willing to train someone with a good attitude and someone that wants to be a professional driver.

    I'm liking it so far.

    Big Mack trucks!!

no sir, if i ran for office, everyone would be put to work wether they liked it or not.

???? how could you miss it, its a few miles south of sonora on 277 south going towards del rio. ozona blows, you should have persued sonora, perhaps its not too late. the ozona yard has plenty of trucks though so thats a good thing.

those mack trucks are amazing, i would have been dead because i would have bet my life they couldnt take the punishment they do.....yet they do and get back to the yard and are ready for more on the next shift for hundreds of thousands of miles. They need servicing on a regular basis and some minor repairs here and there but structurally they are solid as a rock, i never see them in the shop for broken axles or springs or bent frames etc. etc......simply astounding.

funny thing though, these trucks will run over deer and cows and elephants but get stuck on a bananna peel with the highway tires they got on them lol.
