Ok, 14 t680 with a 53 reefer. I'm full of fuel, def, and reefer is full. Headed to get a 42k lb load of chicken in the morning. Needed to scale since I had no idea what truck and trailer weighed. 5th wheel is slid all the way back.

    Steer is 11740
    Drives are 14260
    Trailer is 9480

I see no way to avoid being over on steers no matter how I look at it other than burning off fuel.

    You'll be fine.
Don't sweat that 12k on the steer.
Most states give 20k on a single axle.. read your atlas and it's state by state weight breakdown.
    (34k tandem-- 20k single axle)

If you're 12.3 on the steer you'll be fine as long as you're good on your 80k and everything else is evened out.

    Don't lose sleep.
    They wont even look twice.

    Carry on, my wayward son.

Where is your 5th wheel positioned? All the way back means different things in different trucks. Is it centered on the drive axles? Slightly ahead of center? Behind center?

If it is rear of center, it may not add anything to the steer when you load

You very well might get lighter with a loaded trailer. I carry 10k bobtail on mine. 100k gross I'm only 11,800 on steer. Get it as close as you can at 34k on drives and 34k on trailer. You should be fine.

I’m 12300 on the steers with an empty wagon, pulling a van, they wont bother you.

As for apu weight exemptions EB68ECFA-008F-493D-B7F7-B09808A9CAC9.png

Rear of center and your steer will likely get lighter as you load. I’m 6” ahead of center on a 579 and I go from 11800 to 12200 when I’m up to weight on my drives.

    WREN Thanks this.

Except for the APU, you have the exact same set up I have. With your 5th wheel slid all the way back, as long as you're legal on the drives, you'll be legal on the steers. The APU won't be enough to put you over on your steers if you're legal on the drives.

Long FLD, WREN and Chinatown Thank this.
