I'm befuddled on weight

    It's like a counter weight. I've seen the right amount of weight may actually decrease your steer weight

    If you can, I'd try and slide one more hole. If at all possible you want the drives to have the more weight on them. The ride is better that way. For that little difference it probably won't matter, but it's a good habit to get into.

    Drives and steers should always be heavier than tandems.

    Also to the OP, put your 5th wheel between your drives, exactly in the middle and leave it that way.
