As the first responder said, Landstar is an all o/o fleet. There are some small fleet owners leased to them and agents who employ drivers, but you would be considered a contractor in that scenario. That means you'll have to do your taxes like you are self-employed and you will have no benefits. Your pay will likely be lower than average as well because Landstar generally doesn't have the freight rates needed for the owners to be able to pass on a decent wage to their drivers.

I worked for a small fleet owner who was leased to Landstar back when I was new to the industry. He ran me so hard that I thought he was trying to kill me and paid me a percentage of the gross which worked out to be 18 cents a mile on average. He promised 30 cents a mile. I lasted about 2 months with him.
