Well wanted to introduce myself...
I live in Dublin, GA. Many of you may know the Exit 51 and Exit 49 truck stops off I-16 between Macon and Savannah.
I've lived behind the truck stop since 94, and have been "around" 18 wheelers since then
I'm 22, and gettin myself on the road.
I have a few questions...
Can i have some advice?
I've read a bit about trucking and looked around.. But i want to hear some indepth advice...
What certs should i get?
Whats a good company for inexperienced drivers?
Can i get some good home time?
What does training have to do with my pay?
Anything else you guys think is informative for me please add
I am looking for any helpful info

I'm guessing when you say certs... you mean endorsements.
Class A with air brakes should be automatic. That's all I've got.
Anyhow, if you want to pull a tank, then you would need the tanker endorsement. Probably the hazmat endorsement also would benefit there.
The hazmat endorsement probably would be good. Some carriers require it & others don't.
Don't ask about good companies for beginniner's... Everyone has an opinion about this company or that company & most of those opinions have been shared on these forums. Just research companies that may interest you & base your own opinion off that research. What is good for you may not be good for someone else & vise versa.
Home time? Right now I'm guessing that you'll have to go 48 OTR. At least until the economy picks up. Then you can switch to a dedicated or regional gig to have you home on weekends.
Training & pay... A lot of companies will offer to train you for free or offer to reimburse your training. These companies will also offer you lower pay for a set amount of time. That lower pay is so they can get back the cost of training you. Most I've seen require you to stay with them a year to pay back the training costs. If you quit, they send you a bill.
Roehl does a lot on the Southeast... You told you they didn't? I don't work for them & never have. So I can't give you any info except for the fact the do flatbed & van work. -
I like what I've read about Roehl on the whole... they also do conastogas and probably reefer as well.
Count how many of each company truck are out there at any given time... the winner is your best chance of getting home often. -

Don't rule out the local soda,beer,and food distributors,....There can be some good local gigs out there,..even for beginners,..But yous have to go looking for them,...........
