Alaska? All I know about is SE Alaska...Ketchikan, Sitka, and Petersburg mostly.
They have mosquitos the size of sparrows. They don't bite you, they insert an IV line and dine at their leisure. They're not everywhere, they just seem like it.
Housing can be expensive. Same with groceries and dry goods.
Winter shutdown...when the tourists go home a lot of jobs dry up.
There are natives that aren't prone to taking any crap from anyone. For some of them a good fistfight is a recreational activity...like pool or card games. Tread lightly.
