From what my customer who lives at the top of the mountain told me, of the 4 loads only the first had proper permits. To my understanding the original permit was copied and used with the other loads, which 2 of them became stuck in a curve, 2 different trucks, 1 each day blocked traffic for many hours. State police officer on the scene was a good friend of my customer….

Looking at that first one and all the damage on the road and how it went in the hole there....at what point do you say "hay wait a second" and just stop? Jesus

I think OLDSKOOLERnWV provided the reason in his link to that story.
    • They gave wrong information to obtain permits
    • They copied the same permit for 4 loads
    • The equipment hauling it, 2 out of 4 loads, were different
    • The drivers obviously didn't do their own planning or dry run via Google Map.
Your rhetorical question gives them too much credit if the rest of the previous points above indicate that they and their bosses were complete idiots. :)

Yeah, but I think the point was that you can see the ditch, and you can see your back tires, and it's daylight, so how does this happen?

The 1st and 4th loads made it through because they had steerable axles. The loads were 15 feet too long and the permits shouldn’t have been approved had the trucking company given the correct information on the load length.
Someone probably thought they could “shortcut” on the permits by giving the DOH load lengths shorter than they actually were!
Either way,the trucking company might be looking at some fines!

My uncle Lawrence use to say…. Sometimes when you go to far you can’t come back…. I live by those words, apparently these guys didn’t.

From what the State Trooper said these beams were loaded out towards Iowa somewhere. The trucking company to my understanding had their own flag car service….

Correct, inaccurate information to obtain the permits led to all this mess.

Cogans wrecker service had 36 hours in this with a huge rotator, and that new guardrail was only about 3 months old, gonna be a lot of $$ shelled out by someone….

The state trooper said the driver was Russian and was having difficulty communicating with him. While trying to get the permit from the driver, he finally was able to figure out the driver did not have the permit, the pilot car had the permit….

    36 hours with one rotator?!?!
Now,say for example the wrecker service charge $1200 dollars an hour just for that rotator.
    36 hours X $1200= $43,200!!!
Just for working to get the mess cleared-that’s not just for SHOWING UP or preparing to work or finishing up!
The bill could be more or less!!
I would not want to be the insurance company involved right now!

That was for clearing 2 different trucks in 2 days. They cleared the black truck one day, and lo and behold the white day cab got jammed up the very next day.

I came through with a excavator a couple hours before the white truck got stuck…

That curve is about 5 miles from my house….
