Ok guys...I'm still a newbie..so be nice...most of my experience is pulling smooth bore tankers. Well the company I'm with now has me pulling all types of trailers. Well I'm currently hooked to a step deck flatbed hauling a trailer tandem. Got about a 10 hour drive ahead of me
.im doing all I can to maintain my lane but the rear of this trailer sways quite a bit. Any advice on how I can control this better without having white knuckles on the steering wheel. Thanks

    FerrissWheel Thanks this.

Is your 5th wheel greased? A "dry" 5th wheel can contribute to that.

Is the trailer loaded heavier on the trailer axles than the drives? That's the 'Tail Wagging the Dog.' What can you do?

Do not try to counter the sway. You have to become extremely smooth on the steering. Any kinds of countersteering makes the tail wagging much worse.

They loaded trailer tandem at the end of the flatbed...I'm trying to be as easy on the steering as I can. Definately a learning experience

Bare minimum steering input should smooth things out as much as possible. Be extremely careful in any bad weather.

    Luck in battle.

What's a stepdeck weigh 12-13k? No way she should be experiencing that with that little weight. Sounds like loose trailer suspension, maybe broken weld on the trailer axles?

    Landincoldfire and chucomom Thank this.
