3,000 a week on average unless I take time off. I think I transfloed in 2,800 and some change last week. I did a 34 in Amarillo during that same pay period.

Do you guys run all 48?? Do you go to Florida often? Are they then pretty good at keeping you moving and not sitting around?? What’s running a tanker like? How long to get loaded and unloaded at shippers and receivers?

Some of us run OTR, some regional, some local. I personally, don’t go to Florida often. But, I’m not based at that terminal. Where you live determines which terminal you call home. Yes, they keep me moving. Pulling a tanker is nice. Especially after a 650 mile day and I pull into a truck stop at night where the only spot left is the one everyone avoided... The shorter trailer is easier to get around. We are “no touch” so there’s no participating in the loading/unloading. Your last question is too general for me to answer. Sometimes we drop/hook, sometimes we get right in and live load/unload, sometimes I do my break at the customers property.

Ok what are the benefits like how much would health insurance cost for a single person a week? What’s the 401k match? Any vacation pay holidays? Detention pay?

That would be better left for a recruiter to answer. I don’t take the insurance (no kids, 36yrs old and still healthy). They do match on the 401K but I’m not sure how much. We get vacation pay at each anniversary. Detention pay is case by case when something happens.

If I remember right, IRT doesn't pay for loading and unloading or time spent at the tank wash.
    Is this still the case?

We don’t unload/load. They do it for us everywhere we go. In the event you have an abnormal hold up, they pay detention after looking at the circumstances. A lot of tank washes are drop/hook. The ones that aren’t usually take a few hours or are located near areas where you would be taking a break anyways. Most have laundry, showers, etc. free of charge.

I will put my 3,000 miles at 49 cents up against a driver who gets a small hourly detention rate and 30 something cents a mile any day. I bet my gross is the same or more due to the higher mileage rate IRT pays and customer base/miles available.

Yeah I hear ya I don’t get detention either but I get paid 52 -53 cpm on 3000 miles like 1575 gross on 3k 1525 on 2885 plus vacation at 1cpm. 3cpm after 3 years great miles great company nice 401k with no vesting period get to keep all contributions and that’s 4% of your salary a year extra. and absolutely zero fee health insurance which is paid by company for a single person that’s 300 someodd dollars a month that they pay:) better get health insurance man I’m young too but trucking is dangerous you never need it until you do. I run flatbed tho and that’s a lot of work I’m just getting tired of tarping and killing myself im having trouble finding a better otr company

I’ve never pulled a flatbed, but I would assume those tarps could be a pain to fight with. Our trucks aren’t equipped with pumps/hoses. We either pull into a bay similar to a dealership shop or we pull up/back up to the side of a building where they drag a hose out and hook it up to us. The employees at our customers do everything and don’t like us trying to help or touch anything. Most places have big staging lots with decent bathrooms where we can finish our break or hang out for the night after we’re empty. There’s one in LA (Industry, CA) that has a dedicated “drivers lounge “ building for us. It has a security guard checkpoint and 10 ft wall around the plant, good restaurant next door and convenient store. I don’t mind taking breaks at places like that. When/if I get woke up and have to creep around the lot to unload I always go back to bed afterwards and sleep till I’m ready to get up. So it’s not like unloading or loading takes away from my 10.
