How the "Indian Godfather" built a $60 million criminal empire
Vijay Mallya spent $20 million constructing a jaw-dropping two-story mansion perched 400 feet above Bengaluru atop the Kingfisher Towers, complete with an infinity pool, private helipad, and 360-degree city views. Now a fugitive hiding in the UK and facing extradition, the beer baron may never set foot in the extraordinary sky mansion he built but never lived in.

Vijay Malta a few years ago started an airline called Kingfisher Airlines. At the time he also owned a beer company,United Breweries. At one point the airline had planned to operate the Airbus A380 super jumbo. But the airline over expanded too rapidly. It had incurred heavy losses since its inception, eventually ceasing operations in 2012.
