For sure! Thank you. I know I am more than likely going to have to go OTR for some time but it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make in order to be local sooner rather than later.

I’m 10 mins from xpo. Use to be conway. I applied a few weeks back for their trainee program but nothing. Def gonna keep trying and I’ll look into abf.

Didn't Central freight buy that old Yellow freight terminal in Chicago Ridge of Harlem? Not sure if they offer a trainee program but something to check into... That would be huge to get hooked up with one of those companies and only have a 10 minute drive to work...

You may not have to go OTR. Depends on what's available in your area.
Some drivers have the itch to go OTR, but don't want the better half to know.
I never wanted local or regional, but that's just me.

Yup, they sure did. 103rd & Harlem. I didn’t think about them. I’ll do some research!

If I don’t have to, that would be great. I figured I’d join this forum for some honest advice. I can’t see a local outfit taking a chance on me without recent experience.

Republic services ( garbage company) offers a driver trainee program also. They obviously have locations all over chicagoland... More than likely would be a class B position but, they are union with full benefits.

    Chinatown and chicity1985 Thank this.

You'll have to do the refresher. You have been out of a truck longer than you've been in a truck. If it was the other way around, you'd be able to find a job no problem.

Once you get some time more recent experience, look at Hoekstra Transportation and Garner Trucking. Both are regional outfits.

I figured that’s the case. Just looking for some sound advice as to where to look into. Seems like KLLM and Prime are my two choices.

    Chinatown Thanks this.
