I’m not too familiar with how it works, but from what I heard yesterday, “we have to have an even amount of drivers for the trucks” which is the oddest thing ever.

You don’t get it. The insurance has to be in the name of the carrier that had the authority You cannot provide your own insurance and run under his authority.

I dunno I’ve seen a few truckers taping over their logos with temporary logos. I’m guessing just to pick up a load.

but hey who am I to care.

I am not sure why he is trying to get insurance. His Dad is the one that needs to provide his insurance if he is running under his authority. Chances are they will not be able to insurance him since he is a new CDL holder. Progressive most likely wont since he has not been with them.

I had a similar situation when I first started. First company I worked for hired me on with new CDL. Started and did one load and on the way back was told insurance company they had dropped them from another driver wrecking. They could not find anyone else that would approve a new CDL holder for insurance so I left and started my own company. This is gonna be a hard one to be able to get done and most likely will not happen.

This is the reason that the "MEGAS" are able to train and hire drivers!! They are SELF INSURED!! Look it up if you don't understand! IF!!!! You really want to get a foothold in this industry...... getting a couple of years under your belt with a "Big Company" will pay off in Spades!! Keep your CDL Clean and you will have opportunities!
