I understand this. But I/we are talking about Lease Operators, not O/O's. Being a full O/O is always way better than being a L/O.

That's true.
Maybe in time it will change when they see the money they're missing out on. -
That is correct. Most Companies don't actually have their name on the Lease. It is generally through another party. However, if one looks deeper, the Company does own the Lease Company. For Business and Tax reasons, they claim it as a whole different Company. Much like Stevens with Allience. Steve Aaron owns both Companies.
Now with Interstate they don't own all the Lease Companies one can go through, but you can sure bet there is a "Kick-Back" involved somewhere for them. You can tell if a Carrier has a stake/kick-back in the Lease Company if the Lease Company will allow you to take the Leased Truck anywhere you want or if one must stay with the primary Company. No matter how it goes, when a Leased Truck comes to a Carrier, it's generally a Cash Cow for the Carrier, not the Driver. Never do a Lease unless there is no other choice. If one feels it is the route they prefer to go, then only do so if one is allowed to take their Leased Truck anywhere they want, when they want. If one can't do that, there is no "Freedom" and one should run fast! -
I make closer to $1450ish on average. My settlement email today, I brought home $1593 on 2405 all miles. I can work where I want, that being the region I choose to run AND any company I choose to...... right now I choose Interstate. I have NO forced maintenance account that I will lose. Do I pay for blown steer tires and oil changes, of course. I run the west coast, so my speed is usually limited to 55 and 60mph by the speed limit; yet I never run over 65mph; I don't need to, loads are never that hot. And thanks....... I'll keep it!

Actually, I believe Interstate until recently, like a 4-6 months ago did lease/rent their own trucks to o/o's, but have since discontinued that.

and when your luck runs out like at SNI...you'll have whole parking lot full of drivers walking away from the lease, now company responsible for paying truck note
. due to lack of knowledge dispactching themselves. But seriously company can make at least $50k per truck ....if leaser decide to stay for 3yrs: $800 x 156wks = $125k...soo truck paid for by driver...then if after 3rd yr same driver want to trade in for brand new ....then they can send it to Ritchie Bros. for an auction; late model Freightliner with 350k is about $50k.

You must be talking about another company. Interstate doesnt lease trucks. A driver either already has his own truck or buys one and then signs on to Interstate, picking they're own freight, going home when they want. They can leave interstate anytime they want. And since the driver owns the truck he of course takes it with him.

Just read Interstates "FAQ" about the Lease Program. Be careful, the Devil is in the Details/Words. Remember, they have Lawyers from Yale. Lol! I would love to see one of the Lease Operators just decide to take his Truck willie nillie to another Carrier.

You may be one of the very few success stories out there then. 99.8% aren't as smart or lucky enough to get a set-up like you do. Congrats.
