Those taxes haven’t been raised since 1992.
Fuel SHOULD go up 30-40/cpg to do it. The roads should be self-sustaining. And they aren’t.
It used to be a point of pride. Back when this place was America

I think every northern state has that problem in the winter.
Utah had a 20 mile stretch on 15 before the plows went to bed for the year. They milled the road and repaved.
Asphalt gets laid before the concrete does.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

Lepton1 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
the state police in indiana dispatched 2 troopers to bad portions of the interstate to block both lanes and travel - at 45 mph. despite signs designating a lower speed bc of poor road conditions, people kept blowing out tires and crashing as they ignored the signs. brilliant.
Lepton1 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I-40 from Flagstaff to Kingman, AZ, anyone!? It used to be really bad. Now, not so much, but the roads in that section just don’t last. Who knows why.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -

Our roads are made for us tough people. My generation is rough and tough, just like an old snapping turtle.Snailexpress and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Concrete don't last like asphalt does. They're making the layers thicker and thicker now. Along with asphalt underneath.
Concrete was supposed to be cheaper then asphalt. That's probably not the case now. Since they're having to spend more to make it last. -
