I spoke to another driver yesterday, he said he had to pay 750 for his dog to ride along. I haven't asked my FM myself tho, and not sure how long ago he had to pay that deposit

Interstate has been going thru a period of austerity since the Saltchuk takeover. 'Better' company than it was before? No. Austerity has closed two terminals, cut staffing hours and personnel in the maint. Dept, cut out a lot of the little extras we used to get, truck washes are difficult to get approved (notice how many of our trucks and trailers are filthy - never used to be that way), and has delayed replacement of our trailers, which are literally falling apart. Another new policy is if you idle over 30 percent they will cut your speed down to 60mph from 63-64mph currently. When I started in '05, we were running 72mph. That got cut to 68mph, then 64mph. With the phasing out of APUs idle time is on the rise.

On the positive side they still have good freight, are replacing their power units with new Cascadias and KW 680s, and will be gradually replacing trailers. The belt-tightening hopefully will yield a better company. Saltchuk has replaced a lot of upper management. Ex Swift, knight, and Schneider executives are moving into key positions, and that concerns me. Hopefully they won't turn us into an FNG academy.

That would suck to cut down to 60 mph.... I heard that before as well. I am at 10% but I seen a report on our fleet some drivers were well north of 50% OUCH.... Freight is good we do run as much as we can manage to get in and not a lot of sitting that's for sure......

I forgot to mention healthcare benefits. Their plans are very good and reasonably priced.

$20 for driver coverage full medical dental and vision and you get benefits within 30 days of starting.... In fact it kicks in the first of the month after your hired.... Pretty good deal if you care bout benefits! Also see new report released on Interstate http://www.thetrucker.com/Features/interstate.aspx

Benefits are more like $28 a week, but that is still very reasonable! I heard they are changing their rider policy too, to allow your girlfriend/fiance.
