They tried running Alaska with teams a few years ago. I heard it nearly bankrupted them. I heard they lost 8 trucks, 3 which I saw, in 6 months. That was in the summer. One of them ended up in Kluane Lake, a national park, and they had hazmat crews trying to clean that up for 3 months. I followed one down the Stikine River hill and he made every curve except the last one coming off the bridge where he laid it in its side. I stopped as the driver climbed out. He said "I'm a hell of a driver, I made all the curves except the last one." I told him that was the one that counted. They ran them up the old Mezziadin haul road which is a few miles shorter but hours longer. Even experienced drivers can have problems on 37.

$7OO Deposit on EACH pet you have in the truck with $150 of it nonrefundable. It sounds steep, BUT you should see what some of these drivers let their dogs do in their truck:biggrin_2552:

They have both a reefer division and a dry van division. We thought about switching to reefer a while back, but it requires a hazmat and we didn't have it.. and didnt intend on getting one. Right now most of the trucks are autoshifts.. just a couple 13 speeds. We got a survey last week asking who knew how to drive a manual tranny and heard thru the grapevine that they were going to get some.... nothing heard first hand though. Hope that helps!

Idc got a few new INTERNATIONAL PROSTAR auto shift trucks this month. Nice looking truck but way to small inside for a team....hope they don't convert the fleet to them.

We have been here for a year now and are very satisfied with the company....

I had a new PROSTAR...Too small for a team.LOL it was too small for me. It has a 73 in sleeper. With absolutely no storage space to speak about. The new HVAC system takes up all but a square foot underneath the bunk it seemed like. Drives good and smooth and is a sharp looking truck but i hated it.

I am just starting with IDC (Interstate Dist.) and will be going into the refer division. They didn't say anything about needing haz-mat, so I think that might be in error now, GungHoGal. I don't know for sure yet, but will be able to let you folks know in about 1 1/2 weeks from today. I was told that they have a large number of automatics in the fleet, so this should be interesting. Might be nice in heavy traffic, but hope it can go to a manual setting in the snow. Gotta love the Pacific Northwest, ay?

I know the eaton versions have a H or Hold button, it will only shift gears when in over rev, or close to stall under-rev. But IDC uses the Freedom line, from Meritor. I never found a hold button on those. They probly have them. But I dont know for sure.
