We have an International 4900 DT 466E which is set up as an oil delivery truck. It has a two speed PTO connected to a pump.

The drivers are having a hard time getting the PTO into high speed.

It appears that the only connections to the PTO are a lubrication hose coming off the transmission, and electrical connections for control.

The lever for switching PTO speeds is a pneumatic affair. I don't see where there is an interface from the pneumatic system to the PTO.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps it's the pump that's two speed. There is a pneumatic line going to the pump.

You sure that's a lube hose going to pto? On the big trucks they just share transmission lube through the case. there's generally just the air line to engage and a single wire for an indicator light. If you have multiple wires in guessing its solenoid engaged.

The only two-speed PTO I've ever dealt with was the old Spicer PowerTowers, which were normally lever-shifted and also had reverse.

I didn't see anything on a quick Google to help you, hope you have some luck figuring it out!

Maybe its not designed to be shifted on the fly and has to be stopped first?

Never heard of a 2 speed PTO either.
