I got a cheap Harbor freight 5000w inverter and it says to only use deep cell batteries. Can I add a deep cell to the truck and add a battery isolator so it will charge the battery and not draw from the main batteries? If so, how would I wire it up, and what size isolator would I need?

Get rid of the cheap inverter, and get a good inverter, invest in proper wire and fuses.

1st if you want to do it that way can. Go to any high end car stereo store. They will have everything you need (wires, isoloter, FUSSES) except the batteries and battery box. If you have the battery box and batteries already installed they can install everything for you...

Now remember that the invertor instructions you have (deep cell and isolater) is for installing on a PASSANGER vehicle with 1factory battery. The extra deep cell batteries are so the invertor has power and the isolater is to keep your car/pu starting battery from going dead..

You really don't need any of that.. your truck has a low voltage alarm that will tell you if your trucks batteries get too low (11.9-12.4 v). The only real plus to the extra batteries and isolater is when your parked for a few days is if you forget to turn off the invertor the truck will start..

Is that a Jupiter inverter or chicago electric? The Jupiter is a pretty good one actually. But 5000 watts is huge. That'll run like 4 coffee pots at the same time. As such, it will have a higher parasitic power drain, and higher losses for cooling. If you don't need that much power, I'd exchange it for a smaller one closer to what you need. But if you need that much, you need it.
