Thanks. Batteries were all strapped down prior to moving with an aluminum crossbar. Ionic 100AH starter batteries are appx 5/8 an inch higher than oddysey AGM31's, so what I did was cut sheets of rubber to put on top of the oddyssey's to make up the space and tightened em down. Been through Chicago and dreaded Indiana I-70 between dayton and indianapolis this week and nothing shifted, except my fillings in my teeth.
125% satisfied. I almost have no need for a generator at this point, even on a 34 reset. I used to have to start the truck to use my coffee pot after a break (600W), no problems now. Inverter used to scream and shut down running the 1000W microwave, no problems now, for 6 minutes straight. Took a nap at 4am on a ramp and left the running lights on for 2 hours, went down 4% on the batts.
From a discharged at 35% (on all 8) to 100% charged takes appx 2.5 hours of driving with the freightliner 275AH delco-remy alternator to full charge. I've got laser thermometer in the truck and at full load, the alt stays about 185 degrees.
I do not have solar. The victron I installed has an option for that. Maybe if I researched what nussbaum uses on the top of the cabs I could install that, but to be honest, there is almost no need for to drag around the genny (predator 1400W, 50 lbs) anymore. On a restart I could just do a forced regen and that would get me through, and cycle the DPF. I dunno. I probably will keep the genny onboard as a backup for the winter. 2 is 1 and 1 is none, type scenario.
The Li-time BMS is excellent. I have looked at them driving down the road and the BMS will shut them off at 100% charged and they will balance when grouped together. The Iphone interface is elementary but for 1000$ for 4 100AH batteries I can't complain.
I contacted Ionic about my upgrading problem and they passed it off to using an Iphone. For 699 a battery I expected better customer service than "ask a buddy to use his android phone and get back to me if it works".
As far as the bike goes, it's getting old, but so am I. Mostly just happy my gut fits in my jacket, I ride it like a grandpa anymore. Sometimes I'll get out in the country at 6am and twist the throttle a bit in 2nd just to wake up. I flew over the handles bars and landed on my head back in 1996 on a CBR600F2 coming down the mountain in Albuquerque. Tore up the helmet but walked away with a broken arm. I would love to go ride the Dragon, and thats why I keep it, but don't have time.
ANyways, these battery from Li-time are a direct replacement (with new cables) for an EPU setup. Helluva lot cheaper than 4x Oddysey AGM's and save 200 lbs.

I would not add it to your system since I doubt it would be cost effective at this point.
I was out in Southern CA last week and was 100 plus all day and night I believe. I stopped early in the day around 2 PM and had my A/C full blast for the whole day and finally about 4AM it finally shut down. The batteries will cut off at 25 percent for emergency starts. Started back up with the app turning battery back on and let it charge for 30 minutes and was good till morning. That A/C worked it butt off that day and did not turn off at all the whole time. I was shocked it lasted that long. If I was in those kind of areas all the time I would add one more battery to my mix or add the lithium like you got to EPU set up. -
Had to layover for 3 days last week in chicago @ 90 degree days. Liquid PTO pump got contaminated and the company had to change it out on their dime. O/OP so hotel is on me, so I stuck it out.
First day batteries held out fine running the Freightliner sleeper AC without idle. 17 hours of continuous full blast AC on just batteries alone, most of the time it pulls 76AH, and 6-800W running the EPU. After 17 hours the EPU bank is done. I run a midsize fridge/freezer combo off the inverter also.
Second day, started up the little predator 1400W generator, and let it run for about 18 hours (all the gasoline I had on hand, wasn't near a gasoline pump).
18 Hours on a Predator 1400W will give you about 125AH of charging, got me through the second day.
Third day, shop got the parts, changed them in about 2 hours, drove down to get gas for the genny and and groceries.
Total cost for fuel running EPU for 3 days...12.89$ (gasoline), ran the truck for another 2 hours ( forced a regen with DDDL software), deisel another 15$
Hotel costs would've been probably $300.
Those batteries saved me easily 250$ last week. -

I just bought a U1 ionic starting battery for my miata and it was D.O.A. They are replacing it, but it was very dissapointing.

Headed to the frozen tundra of Pittsburgh, and will have to overnight at 22 degrees tomorrow.
A little bit of apprehension about the batteries performing in freezing temps. I have noticed I need to turn on the app and select heat to get them to charge.
I have the genny and a little 1500W walmart space heater if things go cold on me. And a torch if needed.
Needless worry I'm sure, and it's a new battery system that nobody has really run in freezing temps. But I'll report back. -
I took off about 6 days I think during the Thanksgiving time. It was pretty cold during that time frame in the 20's. I have the camera system running 24/7 and it used the batteries all the way to the 20 percent and they shut off automatic. One stayed on and the other cut off all the way.
I tried to start truck without looking and not thinking about it. One battery was not quite enough to get it started in 20 degee weather. So I got out and looked and seen the other battery was not on. turned it on and cranked right up. I do not fear the cold at this point unless it gets around 0-15.
Also remember that if you turn on your lights for a few it will warm the battery back up if they are on. I have not had to turn the heater on at this time but may need to do it if really cold.
