You would be leased on to them running under their authority. Find out how much they want per week for the plates. Usually it is cheeper to get you own. But if I were you I would get your own plates. This way if you choose to leave or you were terminated you would have your own plates to drive home. You would just need physical damage and bobtail insurance

You would have to sign a power of attorney for them to buy plates for you.
If you have the money to buy your own,I would. You’ll need a lease agreement from the company that you’re leasing to and paid 2290.

No he doesn’t. He’s going to run under their authority. I run under my friend’s authority similar to what he’s describing. My cab card had my name and address as the lessor and his name and address as the lessee. It will have to be purchased through their account but he can pay for the plates if he wants.

Give me a few minutes and I’ll get you a pic of my cab card and explain how it works having a truck in your name but running under someone’s authority.

If you buy your plates through the carrier this is basically how it will look. You will have to buy them through their account, and it will be registered under their company, but your name will be on their as title holder of the truck. I was mistaken above when I said lessor/lessee, I’m not sure when that changes. I’m not sure how your state is, but I’m not an authorized user on my friend’s account. So I have to take one of his checks to pay with when I license a new truck or trailer, then when I get back home I pay him for my plates. It’s not as difficult as some make it sound.

Ding ding ding! Only risk of them buying the plate, is if you leave, you leave the plate. And if you paid for it, will they refund any funds? But it’s their authority their plates, and their rules.
