I was hauling a HazMat load and my truck was in the shop, they were mentioning that it will be difficult to find somebody to pick up the load because they don't have many HazMat drivers, the closest one was 700 miles away
I think IRT needs to raise their standards -
there is one good thing about IRT (and there are lots of good things) they pay you to deadhead and they aren't afraid to deadhead you.
i've had several hundred miles of deadhead, and a few loads ago I was given 1500 miles of deadhead -
You want to hear IRT driver whine like little girls? Go hang out at Vita Clean in Prosser Washington. I was there a couple times a week for the last two weeks and there was always 1-5 IRT drivers crying like little girls. Every time I asked any of them why they were still there they could never give me an answer.

there is a fellow IRT driver who is a good friend (sadly) and he complains about how bad IRT is, he says that IRT pays so low because they are greedy. but isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? I told him why doesn't he just get a new job. he said he got a job but got lied to in orientation (guy 1 said one thing so he did it, but guy 2 said that isn't true, and that guy 1 isn't in charge) and got fired as a result so went back to IRT. I asked him why he's still here and says "not many good jobs out there" he lives in a big town in Southeast Texas....I could get a job there without even trying, and he has 18 years experience (I belive) so he doesn't even have to try

Yeah buddy, if a guy can't find a driving job in Texas there is something seriously wrong with him.

I don't know if this thread still exists, or if we're even allowed to comment on IRT Threads anymore, but ill give a shot
i'm a little annoyed at the moment, I dont know this is just a rare instance or if they made a big mistake. i'm tryign to be calm about it...which is why it took me a week to find this thread
I tried to request time off from the 18th-23rd of march, I was told that they only authorize 3 days, I tried to tell them I had been out 8 weeks but they didn't' want to listen. eventually they gave up and told me to "call Florida and ask them" which I did.
about 8 days before my home time I called and Tony answered the phone (thank God) and I asked himi about those days, he said that was ok. I was in the middle of a Visalia-Auburndale load he told me to call him when I got past San Antonio, which was on Saturday, I didn't call him (plus I didn't get there until Saturday night. he said I didn't have a scheduled drop, so I slacked off a little on Sunday and made it to Beaumont so I could get some hours caught back up. I called Monday Morning and he was at Clovis, I called Clovis and he wasn't there yet. I called Angel Jr and he told me he was gong to repower it, which never happened. so i'm in Auburndale on the day i'm sopose to be home. I was lucky enough to get Nashville load and then I called Tony and asked him if I had a load home, he said "just go home" which I would have done, but there was a missing light when I picked up the trailer, so I had to wait till sunrise to leave to get it fixed, got home Saturday afternoon (on a Friday delivery..yay)
I asked if I coudl be home for a week since they got home home late and I been out so long he said no. he wants me gone 4 days I want 7 im a little annoyed with that, but I don't know right now
other than that its been fine at IRT, i've gotten slightly more miles since getting my Elogs turned on,
I COULD complain about the crappy mechanics at Florida who messed up fixing an oil leak and didn't do it right and cost me a few good loads, but I got a hotel for 4 days and got paid breakdown pay (which I tried to argue, how can I be down for 5 days if 2 of those were weekends?) and then I got deadheaded 800 miles then got 3 great loads so it had a plus
oh, and I got a prepass...after months of asking for one! -
looks like they are hiring inexperience drivers just watch one take 30 min to back into a parking spot....
-
...when did I back today? weird are you sure this was today? are you telling us the whole story?
..IRT hired me blindly, I think that says enough right there
and every company has a hard time, they have to lower their standards because turnover is so darn high -
dude im pretty sure he wasent even talking about you backing up
