don't ever let equipment factor into your pay, at least as long as you are going to be paid hourly. the equipment at my current company isn't spectacular, but who cares what it is when i'm standing around getting my hourly wages while its getting fixed in the shop?

ps, don't go linehaul, last i knew central was trying to go to some super cheap flat rate that is a joke, unless they offer a decent mileage rate don't do it. 200$ on a sleeper cab layover linehaul run is a joke. you should be able to make 200 dollars a day on p&d.

It's "Central Refrigerated" not Central Refrigeration!

I love these guys that make a HUGE fuss about stuff and can't even get the name right. Makes you wonder IF it even happened.

Central Transport has a terminal near me and I see their trucks all the time on the road. They look decent enough to me.

I would disagree. When you're sitting on the side of the road in 0 degree weather, because the truck won't run, and you're waiting on the mechanic you called a hour ago, it doesn't matter how much you're making. At least not to me.

Yes, Central has GARBAGE equipment. That would be enough to keep me away.

thanks for all the replies...but swift otr is not for me but i am willing to suffer the year with one of these companies...i jus lost a job as a sales developer with snp on tools after 5yrs with bonuses at 73,000
and i had no where to turn and now i realy enjoy the trucking industry
a lot but i want to be with a decent company it's not realy about a the money that i was making but more of getting treated fair while i am a new driver!

You may be able to do much better than Central! They are the absolute dregs of the LTL industry. Don't settle just yet. Some of the better LTL's are hiring, you'll be at the bottom of the board and probably the first to go if (and when) things slow down but you'll have a much better experience than you ever would at a rat-hole like Central.
