Does anyone know whether or not CT (Comcar Industries) regional flatbed, is considered "OTR"???

I don't want to get on somewhere only to find out my experience (down the road) isn't going to help, because it's not considered OTR.

It all depends on the company that you're applying to work for. Some companies consider 5 or more states as OTR experience, others want coast to coast.

Quite honestly, the companies that I've seen that require 'OTR experience' aren't the best companies out there.

Rather than leaving this question out there unanswered...
They are NOT considered OTR. They're considered REGIONAL according to their recruiter.

the reasoning behind the term OTR in recruiting, is to determine if you have adapted to living in a truck for an extended period of time.

I've driven for small companies my whole time and have been cross country and to Canada.

the term regional is a rather new term, last 10-15 yrs.

it was either local or a road driver.

    does that answer your question?

    probably not.lol

depends on the company you apply with, don't worry about it.

if your out all week or so, running the east coast, your OTR in my book.

    Really? Interesting...

That makes for a convenient way of differentiating those who are home weekends from the poor saps who are sometimes kept out for 6 months at a time, only to have a day and a half off.

When people ask at my company what we consider OTR exp I tell them simply multi state, logbook required with multiple overnight stays.

We require this for many reasons, it shows the prospective employee understands how to use a logbook, can handle being out for more than just a day and that they probably have done knowledge of how to find parking at night.

well,mackE-6, I don't remember ppl being kept out that long when I started out.

if you were out that long, it was by choice.

could be wrong or just never ran across them.
