So say over 30 years into your career as a trucker and into retirement is it more money to just be a company driver maybe ltl? Or would getting own authorauthority lead to more.. possibly even signing on with a company like landstar mercer etc. What are your thoughts?
Is going company over long run more money?

Go with a company like Estes Express, Old Dominion, R&L Carriers doing line haul and then with careful planning, retire and live the good life at an early age.
Invest in a retirement plan, rental property, do some day trading in your spare time.

IMO, when you factor everything into the equation (pay, bonus, insurance, 401k, etc) being a company driver will set you up for retirement better.
I've never been a lease driver, or O/O, FWIW.Justrucking2 Thanks this. -
Stay away from EPA trucks if you are going to own one, you will have a good shot at retirement. An EPA truck will drain your bank account in a matter of days, retirement is a long way off.
