Is it legal to sell a truck with the incorrect mileage displayed ? For example... 1.2 million mile truck and 260000 miles display on the dash.. another example is you see a Antique model 579 Pete with 200,000 miles at a dealership.. this Pete actually has 1.3 million however the dash was switched or numbers rolled back so the buyer is not aware.

    Curious..

Your title and registration will be stamped or check boxed "Odo is beyond mechanical limits"

The actual rolling back or switching of original ODO is fraud to start off. Especially if the buyer is not aware.

If you possess knowledge of this after the Buyer eventually learns the smelly problem he purchased in all actuality. Particularly if it gets brought up in the Court to answer one tiny question.

Insurance records tend to keep good ODO readings. IF your insurance told your buyer he or she has bought into a seriously high dollar way beyond what buyer is led to believe there is going to be HELL to pay.

you bought it “as is”? From a dealer I’m betting had you sign paperwork that said somewhere “your responsible for verifying all information on the truck”?

I don’t see a problem at all, these machines are built in a way to have mismatched numbers reason why mileage on ECM is more important than mileage on dash.

then you know the mileage is off? How is it fraud if the dealer is telling you the mileage is off on the dash from the ECM?

This sounds crazy because this company is telling me that Volvo odometers don’t go over 1 million.. they are saying it resets to zero automatically.. I’m no rocket scientist but I know that is bull crap.. total mileage display is 260k.... he says it’s 1.2 milll... why are they showing me a vehicle that is tampered with.. if it’s no big deal than ok

believe me no one is implying anyone here is a rocket scientist.

If they are telling you that the truck has 1.2 million miles on it and the odometer says 260k that would mean the odometer flipped over to all zeros and started all over again.

all you have to do is count how many number places the odometer has.

im willing to bet it only goes up to

    999,999.9

just remember the last 9 is a tenth usually white or after a period.

so let’s see the dash on that Volvo.
