Is it ok to plug a steer tire and run on it?

Needs to be taken off and patched to be legal, not just a plug.

 

Well, if you’re just in the city and not driving at high speeds, you’ll be ok. But I would push the issue. I’ve used plugs just to get me back. They never leaked.

 

Could be a plug /patch combo which gets installed from the inside of the tire.

 

From a reality perspective you will be fine. From a legal overkill perspective the tyre should be removed and internally patched. Those tyre worm plugs are brilliant, but guess who ever designed them failed in persuasion or contributions to the decision makes to get them over the line.

I'm also coming from an Australian perspective.

 

I think for proper overkill safety, somehow you should try and get something documented without putting yourself at risk of falling out. It probably will never happen, but if the tyre blew out and you injured another, the company won't be standing by your side I imagine. Take a pic if it shows the plug. Date and document your story with as much detail as possible, and file it.
