Truck drivers have killed people and still found a job. Just not a good one.
Keep you record clean and you will move up the income ladder.
Make sure you do a lot of research on your first company and stay with them for a year.

You're hirable. May trucking company will probably hire you, but plenty more also; probably a dozen more at least.
Start at the top of your list and work your way down.

Most companies only care about the last three years. A few care about 5 years, but those companies tend to also want driving CMV experience.

In a nutshell, even though they are on your MVR very few companies will care.

OP, I am assuming since you used the words CDL school you did not have a CDL when you were stopped for speeding. So any actions based on part 383.50 DO NOT APPLY! Then this becomes a matter for the carrier and depending, the insurance company! Because most of the larger carriers are self-insured the hiring decision is strictly up to them. Right now the carriers are after drivers so bad they are overlooking a lot of things like this kind of stuff. So, be open about it, and once you do get that CDL be mindful of part 383.50! Get the lead out of your foot!

Companies generally frown on speeding. But all you can do is try, and obviously you need to change your driving behavior.

    Hailto,

I gave myself a lousy present in 1991:
    Driving While Intoxicated.
    Class C, 4 wheeler.
Started C.M.V. Driving in late '98.
Some Companies Didn't Like the Conviction, Some Didn't Care.

It's still on My Driving Record, like A Felony.

    You're In Astoundingly Better Shape!
    You'll Do Well!
    CHEERZ!!

Did u start school yet? If not, start applying to companies. Tell them u need a pre hire letter before you start.
The letter is not a garuntee. But will make you sleep better at night.

Depends upon insurance. The megas are self-insured, that's how they can train new drivers. Ours is no serious violations in 3 years (15+ over is serious), and no DUI/DWI in 5+ years among other details. you would qualify, once you got 9 months of clean Class A experience.
